Cheap Elliptical Trainers - Good Value Or Bad Investment?
In the at home fitness industry, you usually get what you pay for. Workout machines are expensive and usually the more expensive the machine, the better the value, performance and durability. A cheap elliptical trainer is one that costs less than $1000 retail. While there are some reputable manufacturers that offer models within this price category that are of decent quality, the great majority are not.
Durability is probably the biggest issue when it comes to cheap elliptical trainers. They simply do not last, or can't stand up to constant use. Often, the performance will be great for the first few months of usage and the owner will be ecstatic about the value they received purchasing the machine. Often, though, it quickly falls apart on them and is hard to use or breaks down altogether.
One thing to remember here is that you have to want to workout on the machine you buy. If it is not performing well, is unbalanced, or even dangerous to use, you will be much less likely to use it consistently. Any piece of at home workout equipment that goes unused, is worthless. Wobbling and loud noises are the most common problems associated with cheap ellipticals.
If you have to purchase one, find good customer reviews of ellipticals that mention durability and performance. Go to websites like Amazon and Buy.com for legitimate reviews from people who already own and use the machines. Some customer reviews are put out there by people trying to sell the machines. You want to avoid these as they are not legitimate representations of the quality of the machine.
